yum install php php-mysql lighttpd mysql mysql-server

If your repository doesnt have lighttpd, get rpmforge repository.

After that open the file given below.

/etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf

Uncomment server modules "mod_access","mod_accesslog","mod_fastcgi","mod_rewrite","mod_auth"

After that start all the services.

/etc/init.d/mysqld start

/etc/init.d/lighttpd start

After that create one test page like info.php in /srv/www/lighttpd/info.php

Content of info.php can be

##<?php

##phpinfo();

##?>

Try to access the page as follows.

http://ip/info.php

If it is working properly it is fine.

Now if you need to add more virtual host, in lightttpd, they have provided one nice module called simplevhost. Enable that and enable server virtual root and default domain and upload content of your site for example site1.com at /srv/www/lighttpd/site1.com. It will automatically take the contents from it.
